Journey to the Cure
Tri-Point Schools Fundraising Champions for JttC
October 2005
"It was very heartwarming and amazing to see the pride and enthusiasm on the faces of these young adults. They should be very proud, their teachers should feel very proud, and their parents need to know what a great job they are doing raising kids that care so much about others", stated Mr. Hovarter.
On Friday, October 7th, 2005, over 600
students at schools in Kempton, Piper City, and Cullom, Illinois made an extraordinary gesture. After just 2 weeks of collecting pledges the students & faculty participated in a walk to raise local awareness for the
breast cancer crisis. Coupled with a generous anonymous donation the district school leaders presented JttC treasurer, Butch Hovarter with a check for $4000."
"This is the second year that Journey to the Cure has been fortunate to see miracles in action in the Piper City, Cullom area. With help from the school principals and teachers, the students organized the fundraiser and won the distinction of becoming the largest JTTC fundraiser in a single day!"
Tammy Mylcraine, JTTC board member and Tri-Point parent said, "Alot of appreciation is due to the whole Tri-Point district, from every school employee to the Mayor. It was awesome how willing everyone was to pitch in as a team, and make this happen. We live in a great community with a big heart."
Journey to the Cure thanks all the schools in TriPoint from PreK-12 for their contributions and joining us in the fight against breast cancer. We couldn't do what we do without you!!! The walk was featured on WCIA 3' five o'clock news
program.
