Journey to the Cure
Medfit Run for Hope a Huge Success!
October 2005
On Saturday, October 29, 2005, Roberts Park in Connersville, Indiana was awash with pink ribbon walkers and runners. The first ever 'Whitewater Valley Rehab/Medfit Run for Breast Cancer' commenced under the leadership of Colleen Scott. Colleen's mother, a 31 year survivor, was part of her inspiration to stage such an event but her desire to help others and make a difference is what ultimately drove her to put this year's event together.
With the huge hearts, and the generosity of Connersville residents, JttC can continue its mission to help find a cure for breast cancer and continue to brighten the lives of breast cancer patients.
Renee Zumkeller, beloved JttC volunteer, was instrumental in convincing the Medfit leaders to allow Journey to the Cure to be a part of the event. As a result, $1500.00 dollars were shared by JttC and the American Cancer Society. A total of 150 runners & walkers participated on a beautiful fall day. There were medals awarded, door prizes, and free JttC awareness bracelets for all.
