Journey to the Cure
Dayton Ohio Kickoff Rally
March 2004
On March 8th 2004 the State of Illinois issued a brand new non
profit license to the Journey to the Cure Foundation for Breast Cancer Research and Assistance.
"More people have died of breast cancer than in all our nations wars;" says Journey to the Cure founder Dr. Valerie Goldfain Hovarter.
The Fraze Pavilion in Kettering, Ohio provided a home for Journey to the Cure over the Fourth of July holiday, and a Rally, held on the Fraze Patio Monday July 5th just prior to Journey's sold out show. Over 50 friends, supporters, and well wishers were on hand to celebrate the official launch of JttC's Joy Basket program, screening initiatives, and raise funds for future endeavors. Great food, door prizes, silent auctions, and exclusive raffles were enjoyed by all who attended. A very special guest dropped by to say hello, and greet JttC's board member and guest speaker Pam Miltner, a 10 year survivor of this dreaded disease.
With the help of friends, family, associates, and yes Journey fans the JTTC foundation is a reality, and for Dr Goldfain, a dream come true; "Our initial administration fees were exorbitant, and funded largely by our Journey friends, and family. Thanks to the big hearts, and contributions from band members to board members to Mr & Mrs John Q JRNY Fan, we're off to a fantastic beginning in a life long quest to make a difference in the lives of the suffering."
